Drama Group in Coventry

The Saints Dramatic Society, was established in 1959 and puts on three productions per year, in February, May and October, at Allesley Village Hall, usually for 5 nights in a single week. The plays span a wide range from adapted well known classics to comedies, farces and mysteries.

The group provides the opportunity for budding actors to "tread the boards" and gain experience in all aspects of theatre. For a small membership fee you could appear on stage, work back stage or look after front of house. Rehearsals are held every Monday and Thursday at 7.30pm, in addition to a reading group every Thursday for those not acting, plus occasional workshops for the whole group to develop skills and confidence with both technical and performing aspects of theatre.

The Saints makes charitable donations after each production to local and small charities nominated by the members. Recent donations have been made to Coventry Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre, Coventry and District Samaritans, Alzheimers Society- Coventry, The Pug Dog Welfare and Rescue Association, Myton Hospice and Allesley Church Bell Appeal.

The Saints is a friendly and sociable group of all ages. A club night is usually held on the last Thursday in the month for members to socialise and it is not uncommon for members to visit the local pub after rehearsals. If you are interested in any aspect of theatre whether it’s set design, costume, stage management, lighting and sound, acting or directing and would like to see what we do, just come along. New members over 18 are always welcome.
